The Dallas Cowboys, the University Interscholastic League, the Texas High School Coaches Association and Houston Texans are teaming up to bring the InSideOut Initiative to Texas.
In April, 2016—Texas stakeholders came together at AT&T Stadium at the NFL Foundation’s Texas High School Character Education Forum, to continue laying the foundation to integrate the InSideOut Initiative throughout the state—and have honest discussions about the benefits of education-based athletics.
Since the launch, the InSideOut Initiative has deployed a pilot for weekly moral character lessons being delivered to every athlete in Arlington ISD, Texas, as a means to continue infusing the InSideOut philosophy into each team’s culture.
The InSideOut Initiative, is set to debut in Houston on Tuesday, January 31 at the Houston Texans YMCA as part of Super Bowl 51. It will launch the full statewide Initiative in April of 2017.
“I think it’s a critical program that’s needed to change the culture from ‘win at all costs’ to more of a transformational type of coaching and education-based athletics. We feel like coaches can make a difference. They can stand in the gap, and they’ve got a real opportunity to make a difference. We just need to give them the tools to do it with. We need to start that conversation.”D.W. Rutledge, Executive Director of the THSCA
