A Parent’s Role

Every student wants to feel supported when they’re giving it their all out on the field; fans and spectators are an important part of any game or match.

But that support doesn’t always come in a positive form. We’ve all seen or heard a parent yell at a referee (or even their own child) during a game at least once or twice. It’s uncomfortable for everyone—particularly, the students. “No one wants their parents yelling at a referee, or a coach, or even a player,” one student told us.

In the video below, students share how they feel when parents get aggressive or act negatively during a game. Please feel free to share this video with parents at your team meetings to help foster a more healthy athletic environment.
