In October of 2016, InSideOut Initiative launched year one in partnership with the Ohio High School Athletic Association, Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns, and other local and statewide organizations. Educational leaders gathered in Ohio for a day-long workshop and conversation about the purpose of education-based athletics.
In February 2017, the InSideOut Initiative trained educational leaders and their School Implementation Teams with the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium and with the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. Attendees received training on the InSideOut Philosophy and InSideOut System which will equip leadership teams to implement the Initiative within their school communities.
InSideOut Ohio is continuing their training in 2019 and beyond.
“This initiative is something that we have talked about for several years, and now we’re seeing it come to fruition. This is needed in today’s society and will help us reemphasize what the real purpose is of our interscholastic athletic programs, which is to provide educational opportunities. We’re certainly pleased that the InSideOut Initiative is in Ohio and will provide guidance for our schools.”Dan Ross, Commissioner of the OHSAA
