Educational Partners

Lead Partner

The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and it’s Board of Directors have made a significant commitment to support the InSideOut Initiative by dedicating staff time, piloting curriculum and by creating a replicable model for other state athletic associations to adapt and implement.

The Beginning

In 2012, Jody Redman of the MSHSL developed WHY WE PLAY, a statewide program created to reclaim the educational purpose of sports.  The curriculum was founded on the four questions contained in Joe Ehrmann’s book InSideOut Coaching; How Sports Transforms Lives.  In 2015, a partnership was formed between Jody Redman and Joe Ehrmann to replicate the implementation strategies of WHY WE PLAY in partnership with NFL teams, high school athletic and activity associations and statewide educational organizations.  WHY WE PLAY is the national model that has been adapted and implemented to help successfully launch the InSideOut Initiative and its purpose to reclaim the educational purpose of sports.

Educational Partners

The InSideOut Initiative brings together educational partners to ensure the high school culture defines and promotes education-based athletics as a human growth experience.  Special thanks to the following organizations for their leadership and commitment to the reclamation of interscholastic sports.
